The Maldives marks 50 years of Independence

This week the Golden Jubilee of independence of the Republic of Maldives was celebrated in the UK. A special event was held at the Hyatt regency to mark the occasion, with special guest; Ms Dunya Maumoon, the minister of Foreign Affairs.

The 26 July 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of independence for the Maldives and the destination has been celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year in style with various events and festivities, including parades by their armed forces, school parades and street parties. Many events also took place on London’s sunny Southbank.

Unrivalled luxury, sun drenched powdery beaches, serene turquoise lagoons and mesmerising underwater coral reefs are just some of the reasons why people travel to the tropical paradise that is the Maldives.
