Riviera Maya Jazz Festival 2014

Mexico may be famed for mariachi music, but over the last few years it has also earned a reputation as a premier destination for jazz aficionados, thanks to the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival, held every November under a moonlit sky at Mamita’s Beach Club in Playa del Carmen.

The next edition of this fantastic event will be held between 27 – 29 November 2014, with an exciting line-up that includes virtuosic jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, winner of no less than 20 Grammy awards during a distinguished career that has seen collaborations with the likes of Joni Mitchell, Carlos Santana and Herbie Hancock.

Also on the bill is saxophonist and flautist Kenny Garrett, who rose to prominence as a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra and jazz legend Miles Davis’s band, plus drummer Virgil Donati, who has toured with Mick Jagger, Joss Stone and Steve Vai, amongst others.
