From November 2015 and throughout 2016, Petit St. Vincent will play host to an array of award winning chefs and vintners who will be showcasing their delicious wines and culinary delights. A truly authentic dining experience, resort guests will have the opportunity to taste and learn how to make mouth-watering dishes and sample unique wines and rums.
Rum expert Lisette Davis returns to the island this coming November, December and January, offering guests the chance to sample a variety of rare vintages of Plantation rum. She will be explaining the traditional methods of rum making and what makes each one unique. Plantation, known as the “Grands Cru” of rums, is one of the finest rums developed and bottled by Maison Ferrand. First aged for many years in the Caribbean in young bourbon casks, they are then shipped to Maison Ferrand’s Château de Bonbonnet, in France and allowed to mature in order to preserve their rich aroma and flavour. Drawing on several generations of cask ageing expertise dating back to the 18th Century, Maison Ferrand’s cellar master has modernised and perfected the technique in order to produce exceptional rums.
The celebrated Italian vintners Ria and Silvano return to the island for a third year in a row, bringing the delights of Tuscan cuisine and wine tasting. They will be sharing not only their wine, olive oils and cooking but also their joy and passion. Ria will be demonstrating her cooking and baking skills in a class offered to guests, and a wine tasting evening expertly guided by Silvano will also be taking place.
Steve and Jill Matthiasson from California will also be guiding guests through the art of wine tasting. They love to explore different varieties and their wines are refreshing and complement food beautifully. Winemaking for Steve and Jill is a natural extension of farming, and most of their grapes come from the seven vineyards they farm in Napa and Sonoma. The couple will be visiting Petit St. Vincent in March 2016 and will showcase a wonderful selection of their wines over a couple of tasting experiences and educational sessions.
Butch and Lisa from Milbrandt Vineyards, Washington have been making wines since 1997. Today, they farm 12 distinct estate vineyard sites and their winery produces highly individualistic wines from their estate and neighbouring vineyards. They will be arranging several wine tasting experiences giving guests the opportunity to try a delightful selection of their portfolio. An avid cook, Butch will also be taking a group of guests into the kitchen for one of his famous cooking tutorials, and of course the recipes will be paired with the Milbrandt wines.
