Our Travel Adviser, Helen, recently returned from a trip to the gorgeous island of Bequia in The Grenadines.
"From the minute I landed on the tiny airstrip by private jet, I fell in love with this little gem of an island. We were greeted with friendly smiles at the airport and straight away we felt so welcome.
A local taxi and open air truck took us along a wonderful picturesque coastal road to Bequia Plantation Hotel where we were to stay for the next three nights. This hotel has one of the best locations on the island, with breathtaking views overlooking Admiralty Bay full of boats, yachts and super yachts. The hotel is within walking distance of an array of charming local bars and restaurants and the fun little port of Port Elizabeth. It's great to get out and about, mixing with the local people.
I enjoyed an early morning walk on the Princess Margaret Trail to Princess Margaret Beach and the very well known ‘Jack's’ Beach Bar which attracts a lot of the yachting crowd and is a fabulous place to hang out and swim in the crystal clear water.
After visiting the new luxury hotel ‘The Liming’ due to open in November this year and sure to be one of the most stunning properties on Bequia, we took a private flight down over The Grenadine islands with just stunning views of Mustique, Canouan,Tobago Cays Petit St Vincent to name just a few! I took this picture below of the stunning Tobago Cays, with its azure waters and luscuious greenery.
The following day was a speedboat trip to the amazing Tobago Cays and the island where ‘Pirates of the Caribbean' was filmed followed with a lazy afternoon at Mayreau, the smallest inhabited island in The Grenadines and the perfect spot to relax in a hammock on the deserted beach.
A full island tour with a visit to Hamilton Fort, the Turtle Sanctuary and a picnic at Spring Top was the end of my short but very memorable trip to beautiful Bequia. Having now returned to my desk I have already planned a return visit to Bequia for later on this year!”
