GETTING OUT & ABOUT

Belmond Mount Nelson

Welcome to Cap Town's most iconic hotel, a sophisticated and stylish haven of good taste that first opened its doors back 1899. Mount Nelson's understated colonial style and exquisite gardens lend the hotel a real old world elegance, but this is no museum; the luxurious accommodation, downtown location, and innovative cuisine mean this is still the place to stay in Cape Town.

The 198 rooms and suites are spread across seven wings and are decorated in an understated and contemporary style. All rooms have a marble bathroom, flat screen TV and WiFi, and some also have a balcony. The lavish Presidential Suite has a separate dining area, large living room, balcony with sun loungers, kitchenette, stylish 1930s baccarat crystal light fittings and an original desk from 1899, the year the hotel opened. The Garden Cottage Suites are housed within a row of restored cottages near the pool, and each has its own rose garden enclosed by a picket fence, making them perfect for couples and honeymooners. Interconnecting rooms are also available for families.

Restaurants And Bars

The food at Planet Restaurant is out of this world, with a mouthwatering menu of international dishes drawing on local and seasonal produce, while Oasis Bistro is open for buffet breakfast and lunch, with a sunny al fresco terrace overlooking the gardens and pool.
